Engineer in Training

Clay Electric Cooperative, Inc. located in Keystone Heights, Florida, is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Engineer in Training for the Engineering department. 

Positions allocated to the class of Engineer in Training are assigned entry-level professional work in the field of engineering associated with systems design or operational engineering functions.  Primary responsibilities include minor project engineering and/or portions of major projects and assisting and developing particular phases of major projects in both systems and operations fields.  Responsibilities may also include performing highly complex technical assignments, making and checking engineering computations, conducting studies resulting in estimates and surveys which will result in statistical reports included in the design of project specifications.

Essential Job Functions include:

  • Engineering Design.  Perform engineering computations and studies, make estimates, surveys, inventories, measurements, and similar work.
  • Project Engineering. Handle minor project engineering and/or portions of major projects and assisting in developing particular phases of major projects.
  • Project Preparation. Prepare statistics, reports, minor design and project specifications.
  • Communication. Contact  manufacturers' representatives  and  assume  minor  supervisory responsibility for construction projects in the field as directed.
  • Operation of Equipment. Operate assigned vehicle in a safe and efficient manner and keep the vehicle clean and orderly, while coordinating any necessary repairs or maintenance items with Fleet Services. Comply with all traffic laws and related safety rules and safe work practices in the Cooperative Safety Manual and be able to perform CPR and first aid.

The minimum training and experience requirement for this position is  graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. Related course work in Electrical Engineering is preferred. 

Individuals in this position must maintain a valid State of Florida driver’s license.

Editor

Clay Electric Cooperative, Inc., the 8th largest electric cooperative in the nation, located in Keystone Heights, Florida, is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Editor in our Member and Public Relations department.  Keystone Heights is centrally located in north Florida, with easy access to beaches, outdoor activities and both college sports and NFL.

Primary responsibilities include performing as editor of the employee newsletter, editor of the Kilowatt newsletter for members and editor of the monthly Power Line bill insert, which is included in members’ bill statements, and serving as a media spokesperson.

This position requires a bachelor's degree from an accredited college of Journalism and/or Communications plus four (4) years of experience in communications.

Individuals in this position must maintain a valid State of Florida driver's license.

This position requires photographic skills, excellent journalism writing skills and the ability to communicate verbally with the media.

This position requires computer skills with knowledge/ability to learn and apply software programs to job responsibilities.

This position requires working under pressure to meet deadlines; a close and cooperative working relationship with other department personnel; and working beyond normal working hours to meet deadlines. 

This position requires strong organizational and person to person skills to meet with the public, media and employees.

Senior Engineer

Clay Electric Cooperative, Inc., located in Keystone Heights, Florida, is seeking a highly qualified individual for the position of Senior Engineer for the Operational Technology area of the Engineering Services division to perform a variety of technical support functions related to development, implementation, integration, and automation of power delivery technology systems used by cooperative personnel.

Responsibilities:
Persons in this position will administer, customize, and integrate control and support systems hardware, software and databases; create, support, administer and maintain in-house databases, websites, data portals, advanced operation analysis programs, and computer networks; provide project management for communication equipment and systems; create and implement cyber security practices; act as a project manager, team leader, or team member in the development of capital or maintenance projects, technical system improvements, and regulatory compliance programs.

Qualifications:
Persons in this position will have related experience in engineering principles; electric utility operating, testing, or maintenance practices; Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), distribution control systems, cyber security and secure IP routing; data communication systems administration and support.   Advanced proficiency in the Visual Basic programming language is highly desirable.
 
Persons in this position will be able to interact effectively with various CEC work teams, contractors, and with the public; demonstrate good oral and written communication skills; evaluate and implement industry standards; troubleshoot a variety of technical problems; and design, automate, and integrate advanced operation analysis programs.

Education & Experience:
This position requires graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering in electrical, mechanical, or computer science fields plus three and one half (3 ½) years of related experience, one (1) year having been equivalent to the level of Engineer at Clay Electric Cooperative.

Individuals in this position must maintain a valid State of Florida driver's license.
