Accountant

Clay Electric Cooperative, Inc., the 8th largest electric cooperative in the nation, located in Keystone Heights, Florida, is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Accountant. Clay Electric is located in north Florida, with easy access to beaches, outdoor activities and both college sports and NFL.

Individuals in positions allocated to this class perform specialized accounting services which result in timely and accurate financial reporting to management, government agencies and other departments and divisions as required. Primary responsibility includes providing basic financial and statistical information which is used in planning and developing effective controls.

Essential Job Functions include:

  • Payment Processing.  Code and schedule invoices and requests for payment by check. Prepare and file 1099 forms for all eligible transactions.
  • Subsidiary maintenance.  Enter transactions into abandoned property, accounts payable, fleet, plant and miscellaneous accounts receivable subsidiaries. Reconcile subsidiary detail to general ledger control totals.
  • Research and data analysis.  Prepare informational, statistical, and financial detail schedules necessary for transaction processing, reconciliations, forecasting, financial, audit and tax reporting. Analyze transactions for compliance with corporate procedures, regulatory requirements, and tax statutes. Perform research as necessary to identify exceptions.
  • Reporting.  Prepare financial reports, tax documentation and tax returns for management and audit review. After approval, submit reports and returns with agencies and regulatory bodies on or before filing deadlines. 

Minimum Training and Experience Requirements:

This position requires graduation from an accredited four (4) year college or university with a degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration and three (3) years’ experience in an accounting environment. Additional professional accounting experience may substitute for the educational requirements on a year for year basis.

Individuals in this position must maintain a valid State of Florida driver's license.

Engineer in Training – Engineering department in Keystone Heights

Clay Electric Cooperative, Inc., the 8th largest cooperative in the nation, located in Keystone Heights, Florida, is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Engineer in Training for our Engineering department. Clay Electric is located in north Florida, with easy access to beaches, outdoor activities and both college sports and NFL.

Positions allocated to the class of Engineer in Training are assigned entry-level professional work in the field of engineering associated with systems design or operational engineering functions. Primary responsibilities include minor project engineering and/or portions of major projects and assisting and developing particular phases of major projects in both systems and operations fields. Responsibilities may also include performing highly complex technical assignments, making and checking engineering computations, conducting studies resulting in estimates and surveys which will result in statistical reports included in the design of project specifications.

Essential Job Functions include:

  • Engineering Design. Perform engineering computations and studies, make estimates, surveys, inventories, measurements, and similar work.
  • Project Engineering. Handle minor project engineering and/or portions of major projects and assisting in developing particular phases of major projects.
  • Project Preparation. Prepare statistics, reports, minor design and project specifications.
  • Communication. Contact  manufacturers' representatives  and  assume  minor  supervisory responsibility for construction projects in the field as directed.

This position requires graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering in electrical, mechanical, industrial, civil, chemical, nuclear or computer science fields. Related course work in Electrical Engineering is preferred. 

Individuals in this position must maintain a valid State of Florida driver’s license.

Lineman

Clay Electric Cooperative, Inc., the 8th largest cooperative in the nation, located in Keystone Heights, Florida, is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Lineman in the following areas: Lake City District, Gainesville District, Palatka District, Orange Park District, and Salt Springs District. Clay Electric is located in north Florida, with easy access to beaches, outdoor activities and both college sports and NFL.

Individuals in positions allocated to this class perform the most advanced and skilled work required in connection with the construction, maintenance, operations and service of transmission, overhead and underground distribution lines, protective equipment, substations and related equipment owned and operated by the Cooperative.

Essential job functions include:

  • Construction and Maintenance of Power Lines. Install, remove, inspect and maintain both overhead and underground lines and equipment.
  • Switching Operations.  Perform switching operations on energized and de-energized lines and equipment, utilizing the Electric Systems Control Manual, UAI system and all safety precautions.
  • Troubleshooting and Outage Restoration.  Working independently or with others, systematically perform all duties associated with troubleshooting lines and equipment to restore electric service.
  • Operation of Equipment.  Operate construction equipment such as line truck, bucket truck, trenchers and other equipment as required. Comply with all traffic laws and related safety rules and safe work practices.

Minimum Training and Experience Requirements:

This position requires a high school certificate or State of Florida GED passing grade plus additional training equivalent to Clay Electric's Lineman Development Training Program and four (4) years of experience in an electric distribution utility, preferably through the progression of Apprentice line work. This position also requires a valid Florida Class A commercial driver's license or a Florida Class A restricted commercial driver's license.
